It may be true that you can't fight city hall.  
 
 
The old man and his old dog were out and about by 7 a.m. They'd leave his house on Raleigh Street and walk down to West 26th Avenue, where neighbors would see them ambling beneath the trees on the way to Sloan's Lake.  
 
 
Maybe it was a sign, a gentle elbowing, that I should have acted on the promise I made in early spring. You know, to learn how to swim.  
 
 
The FBI moves in, makes the arrests, and the conversation changes.
