Fringe group cozies up to city
The knitted cozies on parking meters, utility poles and tree branches are so subtle that sometimes passers-by don't register them, but alert observers know yarn bombing when they see it.
How'd you know?
The "Hug and Go" sign is at Green Gables Elementary School in Lakewood. That place is reserved for the school buses and quick drop-offs. The sign prevents the parents from leaving their parked cars there in the morning. The photo is of my son, Max Reznik, who goes to Green Gables.

Yakking it up for a good yarn
Eileen and Carl Koop can't knit a stitch, but these ex-New Yorkershe's a former software engineer, and she's a chemist — know from yarn. Their Bijou Spun skeins are spun from pure yak down, or yak down mixed with wool, bamboo, nylon or alpaca. Each spring, they painstakingly comb their 15 yaks on Bijou Basin ranch in Elbert County, and send the collected fiber off to be washed, processed and spun. We talked yak recently with Carl.
