    I believe that Fort Leonard Wood, here in Missouri, is named for this general.

    These generals are the namesakes of Ft. Leonard Wood in MO and Ft. Hunter Liggett in CA. Liggett was born in 1857 and Wood in 1860, so neither were Civil War veterans. They're likely attending as representatives of the Army at the ceremonies.

    General Hunter Liggett was the commander of the 50th anniversary encampment at Gettysburg -- and the host on this occasion. Lindley Miller Garrison was Secretary of War in Woodrow Wilson's cabinet. Wilson himself came to Gettysburg, and spoke at the reunion, on the 4th of July.
