 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Secretary Salazar announced $2.5 million in funding for the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program.
  • NPS awarded a contract at San Francisco Maritime NP to paint overheads and bulkheads at Historic Ferry Eureka.
  • NPS obligated funding to reconstruct historic stone guardwalls at Blue Ridge Parkway NP.
  • NPS obligated funding to close 8 hazardous abandoned wells and restore natural landscape at Big South Fork National River.
  • NPS awarded funding to replace an HVAC system at the Historic Texas Whitehouse in Lyndon B. Johnson NHP.
  • Indian Affairs staff attended an economic summit of tribes in North and South Dakota to promote Construction Worker Training projects and other Recovery Act opportunities implemented by the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development.
  • NPS completed a project to rehabilitate hiking trails at St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The project was completed by Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew members.
 Major Planned Actions:
  • Execute on over 3300 Recovery Act projects.
  • Engage thousands of youth in Interior's Recovery Act activities. Interior's newly established Office of Youth in Natural Resources will coordinate present and future youth initiatives.
  • Interior's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will complete the last of its 26 scheduled webinars. The schedule for the webinars is posted on DOI's Recovery web site.
  • The recipients of the HBCU preservation grants will be announced.
  • Indian Affairs will beign recipient reporting training in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions.
