National Diabetes Education Program
Más que comida, es vida. (It’s more than food. It’s Life.)
The National Diabetes Education Program and their Hispanic/Latino Work
Group proudly announce the updated nutritional campaign, Más que comida, es
vida. (It’s more than food. It’s Life.) to help Hispanics/Latinos make
healthy food choices without giving up the traditional foods they love. Más
que comida, es vida is a bilingual educational campaign that helps dispel
misunderstandings around healthy eating and considers the cultural barriers
to adopting a tasty and nutritional meal plan.
This popular campaign is a resource for dietitians, diabetes educators,
and people who want to manage their type 2 diabetes without losing their cultural
identity. It is intended for people with diabetes and their family members
who may be at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Más que comida, es vida
is an effective way to get out the message about how Hispanics/Latinos can
prevent and control diabetes by learning how to plan and prepare meals and
make healthy food choices.
