Exploring Urban
Integrated Pest Managment: After one year of work, development, and testing, our Elementary school IPM curriculum developed by Erica Jenkins is now available. This resource provides the opportunity for K-6 educators in formal and informal settings to use IPM as the real-world theme in which to engage in scientific and interdisciplinary learning. The resource provides teachers with background information, hands-on activities, worksheets and resources to help teachers engage the students in real-world learning. There are many ways to use this resource in the classroom. While some of the lessons build on previous learning, most of the lessons can stand-alone. IPM can be used as a theme in the classroom for a whole year or individual activities can be selected as enrichment to regular classroom activities. For example, inspection and monitoring activities can be done weekly, monthly or as often as desired to provide continuity throughout the year and show how things change over time. The following publication is available in PDF format. Because of the large size of the entire document, it is available by section. You can download and read these with Adobe's Acrobat Reader. You may need to download and install a newer version. A limited number of hard copies are avaible.
