WASHINGTON, D.C.—MCCONNELL DOWELL AWARDED OVER $10 MILLION CONTRACT BY U.S. ARMY

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that he was informed by the Office of the Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon that McDonnell Dowell Limited in American Samoa has been awarded a contract for $10,034,375.00 for the reconstruction of a two-lane roadway between Nu’uuli and Faganeanea on Tutuila.  Also included in the contract will be curb/gutters, sidewalks, streetlights, bus turnouts/shelters, guardrails, water/power utilities, and shoreline protection along the shoreline adjacent to the roadway.  It is estimated that the work will be completed by July 2006.

“I am very pleased that the U.S. Army has approved this contract which will provide the much needed funds for the improvement of our roads and protection of our shoreline in American Samoa,” Congressman Faleomavaega said.  “I appreciate the strong support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which made this project possible.”

“I also congratulate Mr. Mark Liesch who is Project Manager for McDonnell Dowell for the excellent job they did to win this contract.  This will definitely help our local economy as well,” the Congressman concluded.
