UCLA is closely monitoring developments in the nationwide public health emergency involving swine influenza A, also known as H1N1. As many people know, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has identified cases of swine flu in humans. Swine flu is normally spread between pigs and to people who have close contact with pigs. What is different in this outbreak is that there is human-to-human transmission in people who have had no contact with pigs.
