What shall I do on Valentine's Day,
To show my love for you?
A healthy meal, a health-e-card,
A walk in the park for two!
- Treat yourself or your loved ones to a heart-healthy meal that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables and foods low in saturated fat and salt. For example, include a hearty salad or a dessert centered around fruit.
- Plan an event that encourages physical activity, such as a love song dance-off, nature walk, ice skating, or bowling.
- Give yourself or your loved ones a favorite healthy alternative to candy, such as a fruit basket. If you smoke, quit smoking. It's a perfect gift for yourself and others.
- Wear red in February for American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day (the first Friday in February) to help raise awareness about heart disease. Encourage yourself and others to learn more about how to lower heart disease risk and take action!
- Send a health-e-card to show someone you care about them and their health. Spanish health-e-cards are also available! If you prefer a traditional card, include a note that encourages your family and friends to take steps for a healthy life.
