OFFICE OF GIS MANAGEMENT

The Sussex County Office of Geographic Information Systems (SCOGIS) is within the Department of Central and Shared Services which provides mapping and GIS services to meet the business needs of county divisions, constitutional offices, local government and not-for-profit organizations within Sussex County. This includes providing support and maintenance in the areas of data conversion, cartography, computer graphics and visualization, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), database design and software development.

This website was created to help you quickly and easily locate GIS maps, their associated data, and other GIS related information. Sussex County is dedicated to GIS services in order to better serve the public.

Mission Statement: To foster development of a county-wide GIS enterprise system for the County of Sussex through cooperation with and assistance to local government organizations involved in the development and maintenance of GIS data.

Sussex County Government uses GIS technology throughout several departments including the Engineering, Planning, Health, Weights and Measures and Mosquito Control.  The GIS office is responsible for the design and maintenance of the county's GIS which is used to generate the various geospatial datasets such as parcels, roads, zoning, and district boundaries just to name a few.  Additionally, we create custom applications which are used to distribute GIS data to the departments, local governments and citizens of Sussex County.  Under strong leadership and technical resources, SCOGIS provides several key services on behalf of the program. When performed centrally, these services eliminate duplication of effort and promote the development of agency-specific systems.
