The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law on Feb. 17, 2009, by President Barack Obama. It is designed to re-invigorate our struggling economy by sending money to where it is needed most - on the ground here in our communities - in the form of funding for community improvement projects.

Transparency
Because transparency is a vital part of this stimulus project, the City has created this website to help you understand which grants we're pursuing, how much money we've received, and how that money is being spent to make Albuquerque a better place.
As money begins to flow, the City of Albuquerque is pursuing funding opportunities to enhance our city: improvements to our bus system, homeless services, and innovative energy conservation initiatives, for example. In general, federal ARRA funds are being channeled through Funding Sources that already existed before the law was passed. Therefore, well defined guidelines exist, as well as tight parameters, on the use of these funds. They can not be used for just any purpose.
