The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

CSE program briefings for EAP representatives

June 9, 1992 DC-92-23

TO ALL STATE IV-D DIRECTORS

Dear Colleague:

As I mentioned at the IV-D Directors' meeting in Seattle, the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has asked the Federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to help us ensure that Federal employees know about services that are available through the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) program. It has come to our attention that many Federal employees - even those who are in the CSE program - do not know how the system works or what enforcement mechanisms can be used to collect support for their children.

OPM enthusiastically endorsed our idea of providing a CSE program briefing for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) representatives who manage counseling services for federal employees. OPM also offered to distribute CSE program information to Federal personnel offices across the country, and to include CSE information in their training course for EAP agency staff.

We have already held two seminars on how to collect child support for our Washington-based Health and Human Services employees, and were very pleased with their reception.

I am excited about this project, and wanted you to know about it. Those of you with whom I've spoken have also expressed enthusiasm, and I am grateful for your support.

Sincerely,

Allie Page Matthews
