Program Description
JABS is a secure medium that enables the automation of the criminal booking process, allowing law enforcement agencies to share criminal data electronically to improve criminal identification response times and avoid duplication of booking data entry. JABS provides a secure link for transmitting electronic fingerprint and biometric data to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS).
For FY 2002, $15.9 million is requested for operations and maintenance of the JABS production system, deployment of component booking stations, operations and maintenance of component booking station hardware and software, upgrading the security infrastructure with enhanced user authentication and data encryption to the user workstation, and program management.
