Virginia Clean Cities ARRA Grant is Announced

Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has appropriated significant funding for the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy's Paving the Way with Propane: The AutoGas Corridor Development Program. The AutoGas Corridor Development Program is a unique, progressive project aimed at building the infrastructure for public and private vehicle operators to convert existing vehicles from conventional gasoline to clean propane AutoGas.

Next steps for Virginia under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Between the launch of Stimulus.virginia.gov on February 10 and the deadline for submissions on March 6, more than 9,000 project proposals were put forward by citizens, localities, and other groups.

Now that the project solicitation phase of Virginia’s program to implement the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has concluded, the Governor’s Stimulus Working Group has sent these project proposals to the Cabinet Secretaries who lead Virginia’s major executive agencies for review and evaluation.

$1 Billion Milestone in ARRA Funding Allocated for Infrastructure Projects is Announced

Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced that more than $1 billion in American Restoration and Recovery Act funding has been allocated for infrastructure projects in Virginia. The infrastructure projects, and jobs created, would not have been possible without the stimulus money provided by the federal government.

ARRA Funds $500,000 Economic Development Grant

The Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) awarded $500,000 in federal funding to 12 Employment Services Organizations (ESOs) with projects designed to increase employment for Virginians with disabilities. The funds were made possible through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Projects range from expanding a laundry service operation, to purchasing a multi-passenger van for transporting workers, to creating local community enclaves (small mobile crew of workers with disabilities). more...
