Wednesday, 23 September - Getting Organized for Genealogy: Don't forget to write it down! This workshop will show you strategies that will get you off to the right start researching your family: preparing family group sheets, developing a research plan, and keeping track of your important family records.

Wednesday, 30 September - Introduction to the National Archives: Want to know how to use the National Archives to research your family history? This class introduces you to the basics. Where do you start? What are our most popular records?

Wednesday, 14 October - Exploring the Census: Most visitors to the National Archives begin their research with Census records, available from 1790-1930. You'll learn how to find your family and pave your way to further discoveries.

Wednesday, 21 October - African-American Resources. This session will explore the resources held by NARA's Mid Atlantic Region relating to African-Americans. The primary focus of the class will look at using census records for African-American genealogical research. There will be an additional section on African-American military records during the Civil War, records of the Freedmen's Bureau and records concerning slavery and freedom from our court holdings.

Wednesday, 28 October - Internet Resources: Don't get stuck in the World Wide Web, come to the National Archives and sort out the vast genealogical resources found in cyberspace. (This class will be taught by an instructor, students will not have computer access.)

Wednesday, 4 November - Finding Your Immigrant Ancestors: Between 1820 and 1990, over 55 million people immigrated to the United States. This program focuses on ship's passenger lists, Naturalization records, and other little used sources for immigration stories. This class discusses the types of information found in the records, how and where to search for records, and some tips for searching.

Wednesday, 18 November - What Else is Here? : This session will discuss some of the original records held by the NARA Mid-Atlantic Region. This includes maritime records, records from military installations, including the Philadelphia Navy Yard, the Frankford and Schuylkill Arsenals, the National Home for Disabled Soldiers, and the U.S. Naval Home, 19th century Tax Assessment Lists, World War II Selective Service Records, and other records that may contain genealogical value in your research.
