Budget Highlights

Since 2005, millions of dollars have been secured to improve streets, storm drainage facilities, parks, libraries and other amenities in District 3. Funds have come from General Obligation Bonds, the City’s annual operating budget, and through working with legislators to receive state grants. Read more...

Planning Efforts

Councilor Benton has devoted time to meeting with community members to identify the challenges and opportunities in District 3’s neighborhoods. The development of a plan – whether a sector, corridor, or neighborhood traffic management plan – is just a first step to ensure that the district grows in safe and sustainable ways; Councilor Benton understands that implementation of the recommendations contained in adopted plans is where real change can be affected, and he is committed to working cooperatively with the Mayor’s Administration and the community to see that plan recommendations are carried out. Councilor Benton Elected Chair of Rio Metro

On June 16, 2009, City Councilor Isaac Benton was unanimously elected to serve as the Chair of Rio Metro, the Regional Transit District Board. He has been Vice Chair of the board for the past two years. Terese Ulivarri, City Councilor of Belen, was elected Vice Chair.
