President George W. Bush Joins in Observing Arts and Humanities Month

THE WHITE HOUSE

WASHINGTON

September 27, 2006

I send greetings to those observing National Arts and Humanities Month in October.

The arts and humanities are an important part of our national heritage and a source of great pride and pleasure for people throughout our country. They convey the diversity of the human experience and help us explore different ideas and emotions. This month is an opportunity to celebrate the individuals whose talent and originality elevate our culture and lift our spirits.

During National Arts and Humanities Month, we celebrate some of the brightest lights of American creativity and the emerging talents who will help enrich the future of our country. I encourage all our citizens to enjoy our rich artistic legacy by attending performances and workshops, visiting museums and national parks, and learning more about the men and women whose work entertains and inspires us.

Laura and I send our best wishes.
