Letter from the Director

Introducing A New and Improved
Sun Van Service through IVR!

As the Director of ABQ Ride, I’m excited to announce a new customer- friendly technology for our Sun Van passengers. On August 15, 2009, Sun Van will implement an automated system known as IVR- or Interactive Voice Response.

What is IVR?

IVR is a computerized voice system that will call you the night before your scheduled trips, with a reminder of your trip itinerary for the next day. With that phone call, you can confirm your trip or cancel your trip. On the day of your trip, you will receive an automated call from the IVR system when your Sun Van ride is approximately five minutes away.

Another feature of IVR is that if your Sun Van is running late, the system will call and notify you.

With the implementation of IVR, every Sun Van rider will receive the above-mentioned IVR notifications. If you do not want to receive these automated IVR notifications, please call Sun Van at 243-7433 (RIDE)(TTY).

How do you get IVR?

To ensure that the IVR system works for you, you will need to call Sun Van at 243-7433 (RIDE) (TTY) to update your client file with your correct phone number. Please note that Sun Van will only be able to make calls through the IVR system to local phone numbers.

The IVR system will also mean a change in how we schedule reservations. You will be asked to provide or confirm a phone number for the initial trip and return trip.

I look forward to working with you as we continue to improve Sun Van and build a 21st century Transit Department for a 21st century city!

Best regards,
Greg Payne
