Use Form 5434-A, Application for Renewal of Enrollment, to apply for renewal of enrollment effective April 1, 2008. If you are unable to download the form, please contact us at (202) 622-8225, or send an e-mail to Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries, and we will fax the form to you.
Renewal Fee
THE FEE TO RENEW ENROLLMENT IS NOW $250. The new fee is applicable for renewal of enrollment effective April 1, 2008. Electronic Check Processing (ECP) is used to process the renewal fee. For information about the new fee, please view User Fees Relating to Enrollment to Peform Actuarial Services.
“05-” and “08-” Prefixes
Your application for renewal of enrollment must be postmarked on or before March 1, 2008, to be considered timely.
If your renewal is postmarked on or before March 1, 2008, you may begin using the “08-” prefix on April 1, 2008, even if you have not received notification of renewal by the Joint Board.
If your renewal is postmarked after March 1, 2008, you must wait for notification of renewal by the Joint Board to use the “08-” prefix. However, the IRS, Department of Labor, and PBGC will accept the “05-” prefix for documents signed through April 30, 2008.
General Information Concerning Renewal of Enrollment
An Enrolled Actuary's enrollment to practice is renewable every three years. To qualify for renewal of enrollment an Enrolled Actuary must certify that he/she has satisfied the continuing professional education (CPE) requirements specified in the Joint Board's regulations.
