The U.S. Consulate General is aware of allegations that visa applicants have been the subject of financial scams after entering personal information online.  Although we cannot confirm these reports, we do advise all applicants to exercise caution when using the internet, including when using search engines to look up websites.  All U.S. Government-sponsored websites are secure and any personal and financial information entered in these websites is protected through Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption.  Visa applicants in Ecuador should first visit the Visa Service website to submit the visa application online. 

Next, applicants may visit the Visa Service website for information about paying the visa application fee and scheduling an appointment, both of which can be done online or in-person.  The U.S. Embassy cannot vouch for other websites which applicants may find through internet search engines or other channels.  More information about the visa application process is available on the websites of the U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil or the U.S. Embassy in Quito.

Security Procedures

  • the American Consulate General will prohibit applicants from entering the building with anything other than the documents they need for their application.

    Purses, bags, suitcases, backpacks, etc. will no longer be permitted.  Limited baby supplies will still de admitted.
