To see what it takes for both sides to come to an agreement on what was best for the City of Fresno and its citizens and employees. "On September 16th, 2006, Poindexter Excavating embarked on a massive project in Greensburg, Indiana; better known as Honda. Heading into a time of year that is not exactly “primetime” for an excavating contractor, Poindexter was faced with the challenge of moving approximately 50,000 cubic yards of earth per day to meet the unprecedented schedule set forth by Global Performance. With the seemingly impossible task of moving in excess of 8,000,000 cu. yards, 6,500,000 of which needed compaction, Poindexter would need to call on proven subcontractors to assist in other areas of the project.
Also needed would be a very large amount of operating engineers; many with GPS experience. Local 181 and district business agent Aaron Jackson were extremely helpful in this process. Aaron was called on day and night due to Poindexter running two shifts around the clock. His hard work and helpfulness is greatly appreciated.
In all, Poindexter Excavating and it’s subcontractors would move 8,074,442 cubic yards of dirt, install 54,594 feet of storm sewer, 67,955 feet of under drains, 18,822 feet of sanitary sewer, 27,765 feet of waterline, placed 585,925 tons of stone, laid 578,916 square yards of asphalt, and seeded 1296 acres! A staggering 302,098 man hours was accumulated during the project in approximately 12 months! Poindexter Excavating would like to thank all of it’s subcontractors on a job well done and most importantly safely and on time."
