The Department of the Navy values energy as a strategic resource. One of the DON's major initiatives is to become more energy efficient. There is much to do from an information technology perspective to accomplish this. Office equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines and copiers consume energy even when not in use. By simply using efficient equipment and turning them off when not in use, the DON can significantly reduce its energy consumption. ...

Scholarships are being offered for Department of the Navy civilian and military personnel through the Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship Program to meet the increasing demand for cyber/information technology professionals with a cybersecurity/information assurance (CS/IA) focus. These scholarships for master's and doctorate level work cover the cost of tuition, fees, and books. They can be used for degrees in Biometrics, Computer Science, Computer Crime Investigation, Computer Engineering, Computer Programming, Cyber Operations, Digital and Multimedia Forensics, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Business Management or Administration, and other areas with a CS/IA concentration.

The final step in the dynamic federal agency spectrum access process within the United States is receiving a radio frequency assignment from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. This notification from the assistant secretary of commerce for communications and information is required for federal spectrum-dependent systems to operate within the United States. The Code of Federal Regulations Title 47 Part 300, also known as the "Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management," establishes this requirement for all spectrum-dependent systems operated by the federal government.
