The Embassy urges all American citizens, even those visiting Estonia for a short time, to sign up with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) through the Embassy's Consular Section (often referred to as "registering" with the U.S. Embassy).  In the event of an emergency, the Embassy will provide information and other critical assistance to American citizens.  Enrollment is the only way to guarantee that the Embassy is aware of your presence in the country and is able to contact you and assist you in such circumstances.

American citizens may now sign up online at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs or visit the Embassy's Consular Section in person.  Enrollment in STEP is for American citizens only.

The Embassy issues messages to American citizens from time to time, both of a routine nature (e.g., information on events or programs that may be of interest to American citizens) and of a security-related nature (e.g., general travel advice or critical security information for travelers).  By enrolling with us, you will receive those messages directly via e-mail (or, in rare circumstances in the case of an extremely time-sensitive message, via SMS text message).  We also post these message on our Embassy website.  Please read the recent messages sent by the Embassy to enrolled American citizens to see examples of the kind of information we send.
