  • The Embassy has recently learned of visa scams being perpetrated against Hungarian citizens interested in working as au pairs in the United States. Please be advised that applicants will never have to pay “processing fees” to the Embassy through Western Union.  In Hungary, visa fees are collected only at MKB bank or at the Embassy. Currently, the U.S. Department of State has authorized only thirteen organizations to bring au pairs to the United States. The full list of approved au pair organizations can be found on the web site of the U.S. Department of State: Designated Sponsors List

If you have any questions about whether an au pair program is legitimate, please feel free to email the Embassy at USConsular.Budapest@state.gov.
