Kicking off a nationwide volunteerism campaign, Congressman Mitchell is joined by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke to prepare lunches at a New Leaf's La Mesita emergency shelter for homeless families with children in Mesa.

As a former mayor, Congressman Mitchell visits with constituents in Scottsdale to hear their local concerns and to thank them for getting involved in their local neighborhoods.

At the American Legion Department of Arizona's annual convention, Commander Henry Branch presented Congressman Mitchell with the "Distinguished Legislator Award" in recognition of the Congressman's work on behalf of our nation's veterans. Previous recipients have included Sens. McCain, Kyl and former Governor Janet Napolitano.
