The NBII consists of 12 designated regions. 9 of these regions have formally established "regional nodes" and are actively working to integrate and provide access to regional data and information.
California
Central Southwest / Gulf Coast (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas)
Mid-Atlantic (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia)
Mountain Prairie (Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming)
Northeast (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont)
Pacific Basin (Hawai'i, Guam, and the island nations of the Pacific)
Pacific Northwest (Idaho, Oregon, and Washington)
Southern Appalachian (Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee)
Southwest (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah)
Although designated as NBII regions, the regions identified below are not yet active; however, NBII does provide access to a limited number of data and information products from these areas:
