Inmarsat Service

There are four ocean area codes to choose from. If you are not sure which ocean code to use, please contact RPSC Marine Science in Denver, Colorado.

Select the appropriate code from the list below:

  • Atlantic Ocean East: 871
  • Pacific Ocean: 872
  • Indian Ocean: 873
  • Atlantic Ocean West: 874

Inmarsat from U.S. to LMG

The Laurence M. Gould is usually in the 874 (Atlantic Ocean West) Area. Always try this number first.

Cellular Service

Cellular service is also available on both vessels and can be used within 3 - 5 kilometers of a port with cellular service. At this time, both vessels have access to the Punta Arenas and Talcahuano, Chile cellular service. The Nathaniel B. Palmer also has cellular access in Lyttelton, New Zealand.
