2008 Final Data are now available.
Note:
Recreational Fishery Catch and Effort
statistics have been re-estimated for 2004 and 2005
to improve the for-hire catch estimates on the Atlantic
and Gulf Coasts. In 2004, separate sampling
for Party (or Head) Boats (HB) and Charter Boats
(CH) was initiated along with the standard combined
Party/Charter Boat mode (PC). To produce the standard
PC estimates using all our survey data, a
weighting scheme was developed to compensate for
the large increase in HB angler-interviews newly
obtained from at-sea sampling. This scheme included
weighting to compensate for cluster sampling of
many anglers from a single boat-trip, and to compensate
for a larger HB:CH ratio than had been
typical of recent years. This scheme has since been
improved following recommendations from the NRC
review of the recreational fisheries data collection
program. In 2005 we switched ‘standards’ and
now produce separate Party and Charter Boat catch
and harvest statistics for official posting,
although PC estimates will be produced through 2006
for comparisons and are available upon request. |
