Fannie Mae is a private, shareholder-owned company that works to

Federal Housing Administration
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA), a wholly owned government
corporation, was established under the National Housing Act of 1934
to improve housing standards and conditions; to provide an adequate
home financing system through insurance of mortgages; and to stabilize
the mortgage market. FHA was consolidated into the newly established
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1965. Since
1934, FHA has been extremely successful in achieving these goals.
Freddie Mac
Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress
in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to mortgage lenders
in support of homeownership and rental housing. Freddie Mac purchases
mortgages from lenders and packages them into securities that are
sold to investors. By doing so, they ultimately provide homeowners
and renters with lower housing costs and better access to home financing.

Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational
Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity's work is organized

Housing Assistance Council
The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) is a nonprofit corporation
headquartered in Washington, D.C., HAC has been helping local organizations
build affordable homes in rural America since 1971. HAC emphasizes

self-help strategies. HAC assists in the development of both single-
and multi-family homes and promotes homeownership for working low-income
rural families through a self-help, "sweat equity" construction
