U.S. Commissioner General to World Expo Shanghai 2010, Jose H. Villarreal, represented the United States in signing the World Expo Shanghai 2010 Participation Agreement at the Shanghai Expo Bureau on Friday, July 10, 2009 in Shanghai. U.S. Consul General Beatrice Camp attended the ceremony as an official witness.

During the ceremony, Villarreal noted that the United States was pleased to confirm participation in the Shanghai 2010 World Expo at the signing ceremony, taking the U.S. Pavilion effort to the next level to ensure a great representation of America in Shanghai. He also emphasized that the May 1 Pavilion opening next year will be a proud moment for everyone involved in this unique USA Pavilion effort -- a true public-private partnership.

Secretary of State Clinton appointed Jose H. Villarreal as U.S. Commissioner General of Section of the United States Exhibition to World Expo Shanghai 2010 on July 1, 2009. Commissioner General Villarreal will head United States participation. He is responsible for oversight of the U.S. Pavilion and will serve as the official U.S. government representative to the Government of China on issues relating to World Expo Shanghai 2010.
