- Long Description
- This image graphically portrays the cross-functional end-to-end relationship for unique identification. The graphic portrays key tasks and functions necessary to implement UID to new items and modification, and legacy items either at the DoD depots or in the possession of the contractors. Implementation of UID begins with the Program Manager who must identify the items to be marked and the priority to be established for the program as documented in the UID Program Plan. The culmination of the UID marking activity is entry into the UID Registry which will then store the UID and feedback this information to various AIT and ERP systems within DoD. The specifics of these interfaces is currently in development. Three key tasks; IPTS, contracting for UID, and entry into the UID Registry, are discussed in an article published in the Nov/Dec 07 issue of the Defense AT&L magazine.
