Who Are We?

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is a professional organization of Auditors, Criminal Investigators and Inspectors who support the Department of Energy's mission through performance and financial audits; investigations into alleged violations of law; and inspections of management issues and administrative allegations. Join our team and experience potential for advancement, excellent benefits, and numerous training opportunities. We are located at DOE sites in 12 states throughout the U.S., and the District of Columbia. See under Job Openings for current vacancies and how to apply.

Key Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Background and/or security investigation and random drug testing required for most OIG positions.
  • Available for U.S. travel (25%) for Auditor, Criminal Investigator, and Inspector positions.
  • Required to file an annual financial disclosure statement.
  • Minimum age of initial entry for Criminal Investigators is 21.  Maximum is 37.
  • Criminal Investigators must meet prescribed medical standards, participate in scheduled fitness assessments, and sign a mobility agreement.
