Science On a Sphere® Installed in
American Samoa
The NOAA Science On a Sphere® team has installed SOS in the Tauese P. F.
Sunia Ocean Center in Pago Pago, American Samoa - just the second SOS
installation in the Southern Hemisphere.

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology has received some major accolades for their
Next Generation Forecast and Warning System Project, a major component of which
is installing the Graphical Forecast Editor (GFE) in their forecasting
offices.

Smoke Particles/Chemical Data Assimilated in
High Res. Real-Time Forecasts
The experimental HRRR-Chem air quality forecast model captured a narrow plume
of fine particles from fires in southwestern New Mexico and its impact on
Colorado regional air quality due to the inclusion of wildfire smoke emissions
and chemical data assimilation.

On Line at NWS/NCEP on May 1
On 1 May, NOAA began using a new frequently-updating weather forecast model that was
developed at ESRL/GSD and NWS's National Centers for Environmental Prediction.

On 1 February, NOAA's new supercomputer, Zeus, began operations at NOAA's
