The International Association for Court Administration (IACA) was founded in 2004 and legally incorporated in 2005.

IACA promotes improved court management and administration in all countries.  It seeks to improve the administration of justice by advancing modern standards of performance and efficiency in how courts operate and serve their clientele.  It fosters professionalism and collegiality among those who serve in court systems throughout the world.

Effective court systems depend on dedicated judges, court managers/ administrators, and support staff to introduce and implement change abandon old practices, amend archaic rules and regulations, encourage innovation, and replace bureaucracies with flexible, efficient, and customer-oriented service organizations.

The need to promote effective court management and administration, to cultivate the profession of court administration in the international arena, has never been greater.  IACA’s leaders have crafted an association that (i) provides a variety of resource materials and educational programs, and (ii) fosters collegiality and forums for the international exchange of experiences and best practices.  IACA also complements and reinforces efforts by government and non-government organizations to foster justice sector capacity building and judicial reform.>

IACA plans and conducts International Conferences in different countries.

    • Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2004
    • Verona, Italy in 2006
    • Dublin, Ireland in 2008
    • Istanbul, Turkey in 2009

IACA also maintains a website with various types of resources for its members http://www.iaca.ws

IACA also publishes the International Journal of Court Administration on a semi-annual basis and make it available free of charge to its members and other interested readers.

    IACA’S MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

IACA features two types of membership:

INDIVIDUAL: Individual members include judges, court managers and administrators, court clerks, and other related professionals. Membership dues are based on a sliding scale linked to public sector salaries in each country. Sub-categories include associate membership for retired court officials and students.

ORGANIZATIONAL: Organizational members include two types. Regular organizational member-ships are available to associations whose goals and objectives are similar to IACA’s, for example, the Federal Court Clerks Association in the USA. Associate organizational memberships will be available to (i) prospective sponsors such as rule corporations, government agencies, and independent foundations that sponsor grants for rule of law-related initiatives, and (ii) rule of law contractors and NGOs that solicit grants to sponsor international rule of law projects with goals similar to ours.
