About

What services does this resource provide?

Services provided include the conduct of Phase I and II clinical studies to evaluate candidate vaccines, adjuvants, therapeutic or other biological agents against bacterial and viral respiratory pathogens.

    Where are the services provided?

The Bacterial Respiratory Pathogens Research Unit (non-Government link) is located at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. The BRPRU focuses on the major themes of: bacterial carriage, progression to lower respiratory tract disease, and development of prevention strategies that optimize the protective immune response (including innate and mucosal immunity).

Bacterial respiratory pathogens of interest are available here.

The Viral Respiratory Pathogens Research Unit is located at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. The VRPRU focuses on the major themes of: viral pathogenesis, evaluation of new and/or improved vaccines and therapeutics, and development of strategies that optimize the protective immune response.
