 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Secretary Salazar announced $40 million for the Fort Peck/Dry Prarie Rural Water Project.
  • Secretary Salazar visited the Apostle Islands National Seashore and Minnesota Valley NWR to highlight Recovery Act projects.
  • Indian Affairs obligated funds transferred from the Health and Human Services Child Care and Development Fund to the tribes.
  • FWS awarded a contract for energy renovation at Midway Atoll NWR.
  • FWS awarded a contract for the planning and design phase for the Kealia Pond NWR Visitor Center.
  • FWS awarded a contract for design of a new administrative and visitor facility at Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
  • NPS awarded a contract for construction management for the National Mall - Jefferson Seawall project.
  • NPS awarded a contract to reconstruct and stabilize the Big Slackwater Historic Stone Wall and Towpath at C&O Canal.
  • NPS awarded a contract for trail and road repair at Redwood National Park.
  • NPS awarded a contract for trail realignment at Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
  • The BLM Coeur d'Alene Field Office (Idaho) successfully completed trail reclamation and restoration work in the Crystal Lake Wilderness Study Area
 Major Planned Actions:
  • Execute on over 3300 Recovery Act projects.
  • By early September, projects will be started at 107 parks.

  • Engage thousands of youth in Interior's Recovery Act activities. Interior's newly established Office of Youth in Natural Resources will coordinate present and future youth initiatives.
  • DOI will respond to the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board government-wide survey on Contracts and Grant Staffing and Qualifications.
