Performance Indicators: Health and Human Services

As the region has benefited from an economic boom, it is the role of the government to ensure that every resident of the District of Columbia reaps those benefits and has the ability to maintain a healthy and stable household. We will tackle this critical problem by continuing a four-pronged approach to end poverty: work, opportunity, security, and community. As we address the pressing issue of poverty, we will also address the public health issues that often come with barriers to funds and healthcare. The District continues to exhibit high rates of chronic diseases such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and HIV infection. District agencies responsible for public health, including the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH), will collaborate across the government as well as with the community to target the most pressing health issues confronting District residents.
