The Office of Child Support EnforcementGiving Hope and Support to America's Children

DEAR COLLEAGUE LETTER

DCL-08-40

DATE: October 28, 2008

TO: State and Tribal IV-D Directors

SUBJECT:Tribal Child Support Enforcement Programs

Dear Colleague:

Please join me in welcoming Northern Arapaho Tribe, Klamath Tribes, Mescalero Apache Tribe, and Nooksack Indian Tribe to the child support enforcement community. These Tribes were recently awarded Comprehensive Tribal IV-D funding. To date, the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has approved funding for a total of 28 Tribal IV-D programs. This is truly an exciting time!

While every State may not have an Indian Tribe within its borders, Tribal IV-D programs and State IV-D programs will surely intersect and will have occasion to work together. Given that, State IV-D programs are reminded of the State plan requirement to cooperate with Tribal IV-D programs and to extend the full range of services available under State IV-D plans.

If you have questions regarding a specific Tribal IV-D program, please contact the Tribal IV-D program directly. Contact information for each Tribal IV-D program can be found on the OCSE website at: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/resources/tribal/. The information on this website is updated regularly. You may also contact your Regional Office representatives.

Thank you for all your efforts to improve the lives of children.

Sincerely,

Margot Bean
Commissioner
Office of Child Support Enforcement
