On November 4, there will be an election for Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor, and additional statewide offices. Voters will also choose US Congresspeople, a US Senator, all New Mexico House members, and many county and judicial offices. There will probably also be bond and other ballot issues. The League of Women Voters publishes its Voters’ Guide before every election. All the work is done by volunteers -- preparing questions, contacting candidates, collecting and preparing responses, proofreading, and distribution to libraries, schools, and businesses. Volunteers do everything except for the typesetting and printing. We are planning to distribute over 10,000 copies of the Voters’ Guide throughout Bernalillo and Sandoval County. Please consider a generous contribution to help get the Voters’ Guide into the community!
The Bernalillo County Clerk's office has received many complaints recently regarding third party voter registration agents at locations across Albuquerque, including the Biopark and some Wal-Mart stores. According to the complaints
Providing false information intentionally to potential voters is a serious issue. You can get correct information by contacting the Bernalillo County Clerk's office at 468-1291 or their website at bernco.gov/clerk/.

October will be membership renewal time, but it's always a good time to join the League of Women Voters! And now you can pay online! Check out the new Join Us page. You can pay online via Paypal or your credit card, or print out a copy of the membership application and mail in your check in the traditional way.
September resumes the full series of unit meetings. The State League is working to reach a concurrence on a new Natural Resources position, and two meetings will deal with this issue. The other two meetings feature a discussion of dealing with saline produced water in drilling and fracking operations.
Meetings are open to the public. Bring a friend!

Concurrence on Natural Resources position LWV New Mexico's Natural Resources committee has developed a new, much more comprehensive position on Natural Resources/the Environment. A group of committee members is visiting each local League throughout the state to get feedback on the draft position. This is your opportunity to make a difference! If you are unable to attend the Luncheon Meeting on September 11, you have another chance at the September 9 Evening meeting.
Reservations are required. Call 505-884-8441 to reserve your place. The luncheon cost is $17 for members and $20 for non-members. A vegetarian meal is available upon request - be sure to specify your meal choice when you call in (884-8441) or email (lunch at lwvcnm dot org) your reservation. The deadline is August 11, Monday, preferably before 10am.

Download a copy here. Hardcopies are available at libraries and the League office. The Who's Who is a publication of the League of Women Voters of Central New Mexico Education Fund (a 503(c) organization). Stay tuned for the 2015 update, which will come out after the November election!
