SSBG Grantees
Who can apply
Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds are awarded directly to States, not to individuals. States are fully responsible, within the limitations of the law, for determining the use of their funds. Each State has the flexibility to determine what services will be provided, who is eligible to receive services, and how funds are distributed among various services within the State. States and/or local agencies (i.e., county, city, regional offices) may provide services directly or purchase them from qualified providers.
Are you seeking SSBG Services
The Federal government provides States and communities with a vast array of resources to assist needy individuals and families, including cash assistance, Food Stamps, medical services, and social services. The public welfare departments in each State provide these services and benefits. If you have not already done so, you should contact your local welfare office to find out if you are eligible for any of these benefits.
Other federal agencies also support programs for housing assistance, education, nutrition, and disability. Please visit http://www.govbenefits.gov for more information on eligibility for benefits from the U.S. government programs.
