Access technical information
This option allows users to access technical information on the collection,
analysis, and presentation of data for the Healthy People 2010 goals and
objectives. Upon clicking on this link, users are directed to a webpage
displaying the table of contents for Tracking Healthy People 2010
(Revised) - an updated version of the original Tracking Healthy People
2010 reference document published by the National Center for Health
Statistics in November 2000.
Users can access the information contained in each of the four sections of
Tracking Healthy People 2010 (Revised):
General Data Issues - This section discusses the major statistical
issues affecting the computation of data for the Healthy People 2010
objectives. Also provides information on the methods used to evaluate progress
toward the initiative's goals and targets at the Midcourse Review.
Detailed Definition for Each Objective - This section presents
definitions for each of the Healthy People 2010 objectives. Definitions include
information on the numerator and denominator of the measure, data source,
questions used to generate the data, type of statistic, the baseline and 2010
target values, and expected periodicity of tracking data. Definitions are
updated quarterly.
Major Data Sources for Healthy People 2010 - This section describes the
twenty-one major data systems used to track the Healthy People 2010
objectives. A major data system is defined as a system that produces data for
five or more complete Healthy People 2010 objectives or ten or more Healthy
People 2010 subobjectives.
Additional Resources - This section includes a variety of additional
information pertinent to tracking the Healthy People 2010 including contact
information for the NCHS Statistical liaison for each focus area; International
Classification of Diseases (ICD) mortality and morbidity codes used for Healthy
People 2010 objectives; and the Healthy People 2010 Leading Health Indicators
and Steps to a HealthierUS measures.
