National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health to host Workshop

The National Center for Disaster Medicine and Public Health (NCDMPH), a center of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, is pleased to announce the upcoming Federal Partners Workshop, "A Nation Prepared: Education and Training Needs for Disaster Medicine and Public Health," September 24-25, 2009, at the Doubletree Bethesda Hotel and Executive Meeting Center.

The purpose of the workshop is to identify existing education and training content across the federal landscape, recognize learning gaps and clarify federal needs for competency development. Select proceedings from the workshop will be published.

Federal managers and support staff involved in disaster medicine and public health education and training are invited to attend and are requested to register through the NCDMPH website at www.usuhs.edu/ncdmph/.

The NCDMPH was established in 2008 under Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21, paragraph 38. The NCDMPH is hosted by the Department of Defense at the Uniformed Services University for Health and receives oversight and guidance through the Federal Education and Training Interagency Group for Public Health and Medical Disaster Preparedness and Response (FETIG). The Center serves the U.S. Government as an academic home for the development and dissemination of core skills, knowledge and abilities, and for research on education and training strategies in the fields of disaster medicine and public health.

Questions and additional information can be obtained by contacting the NCDMPH at ncdmph@usuhs.edu or 301-294-3763.
