Girlfriends' Health

Girlfriends share a lot, including meals, laughter, activities, information, and support. Be a healthy girlfriend, and help a girlfriend live a safer and healthier life. Below are a few health and safety tips to help you stay focused on being the best you can be for yourself and your girlfriends.

  • Eat healthy at gatherings. Whether you're gathered at home, for a book or mommies' club, for a birthday celebration, or for a girls' night out, make healthy choices in what you eat and drink. Don't drink and drive. Designate a non-drinking driver.
  • Be active while having fun. Enjoy each other's company while you walk, bowl, swim, dance, play tennis, and more. Regular physical activity is important for good health, and it's especially important if you're trying to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight. Adults should be active for at least 2½ hours a week.
  • Face the facts, manage stress, and be supportive. A friend with an illness, abusive relationship, mental illness, or caregiving issues may lead a complicated life for a period of time. Do what you can to be supportive, help find needed services, and maintain your own mental and physical health.
  • Be a great role model. Get exams and screenings, vaccinations, and other health care you need. Get enough sleep. Lower your risk for injury and disease. Be smoke-free. Take steps to live a safer and healthier life.

August 1st is National Girlfriend's Day.
