CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Attorney General Janet Reno announced the appointment of

B. Todd Jones, United States Attorney, District of Minnesota, as the new Chair of the 2000 Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys. Jones replaces Mark T. Calloway, United States Attorney, Western District of North Carolina, who was appointed Director for the Executive Office for United States Attorneys effective November 8.

Denise E. O'Donnell, United States Attorney, Western District of New York, has been appointed Vice Chair. The Advisory Committee, created in 1973, advises the Attorney General and gives the United States Attorneys a key voice in Department policy.

Reno said, "Todd's tenure as United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota has been very impressive, and his expertise and wise counsel on civil rights matters have been invaluable."

Jones, who chairs the Advisory Committee's Civil Rights Subcommittee, also plays a vital role as a member of the African American United States Attorneys' Working Group. Jones was appointed to the Advisory Committee in January 1999 and served as vice chair. He has also made major contributions as a member of the Advisory Committee's Subcommittee on Native American Issues.

Jones was Presidentially appointed United States Attorney in October 1998 and previously was a Partner for Greene Espel, P.L.L.P. Jones also served in the Marine Corp at Camp Pendleton, California, as Defense Counsel (1986-1987) and Prosecutor (1987-1989), and was Commanding Officer of the Marine Reserve Unit, Military Police Company in Twin Cities, Minnesota, from 1993-1995. Jones was recalled to active duty during Operation Desert Storm.

O'Donnell was Presidentially appointed United States Attorney for the Western District of New York in October 1998. O'Donnell has served the Western District of New York since 1985 as both Appellate Chief and First Assistant.

"The energy and management style Denise has brought to the Western District of New York is very dynamic," Reno said. "She has provided a wealth of knowledge to the Advisory Committee on management and investigative issues."

O'Donnell was appointed to the Advisory Committee in January 1999.
