WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Comptroller of the Currency Eugene A. Ludwig
will deliver keynote remarks at the grand opening of Neighborhood
National Bank in San Diego, California.

Neighborhood National Bank was the first institution to receive
OCC approval to form a community development financial
institution (CDFI) with a national bank charter.  The bank will
address San Diego's affordable housing needs and the credit needs
of local small businesses, including minority and women-owned
businesses.

Comptroller Ludwig will be available for interviews and
photographs immediately following the ceremony.

The OCC charters, regulates and supervises more than 2,600 national banks and
66 federal branches and agencies of foreign banks in the United States,
accounting for 56 percent of the nation's banking assets.   Its mission is to
ensure a safe, sound and competitive national banking system that supports the
