DSS and BRAC As a part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Committee recommendations, elements of the Defense Security Service will re-locate to Fort Meade, Md., or Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., by September 2011.
Under BRAC Recommendation H&SA-0108R, DSS, along with the Defense Intelligence Agency Defense Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence Center (formerly the Counterintelligence Field Activity) and the three Military Department Investigative Agencies, will relocate to Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. More specifically, Recommendation #131 mandates that DSS close leased space in Alexandria, Va., Linthicum, Md., Long Beach, Calif., and Smyrna, Ga., and relocate all components to Quantico.
Also, under BRAC Recommendation H&SA-0099, the Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO) will relocate to Fort George G. Meade, Md., along with the Defense and Military Department Adjudication Facilities. |
