G. Tracy Burnett, Acting Assistant Inspector General

Mr. Burnett has been with the Department of State, Office of Inspector General since December 9, 2007.  Mr. Burnett has worked in Federal law enforcement, both domestically and internationally, for 21 years. Mr. Burnett began his Federal career in 1988 with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and prior he worked as a local law enforcement officer. 

 

From 1988-1994, Mr. Burnett served as a Special Agent in the DEA, where he planned and conducted investigations concerning violations of controlled substance laws.  He served in Atlanta, GA, Bolivia, and Peru. From 1994-1997, Mr. Burnett served as a Special Agent in Calverton, MD, at the Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigations, where he conducted investigations concerning violations of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. From 1997-2007, Mr. Burnett served in the Inspector General community as: USPS/OIG-Special Agent; TIGTA-Desk Officer/Assistant Special Agent in Charge; NARA/OIG-Assistant Inspector General for Investigations; and HUD/OIG-Special Agent in Charge. 

 

Mr. Burnett received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in 1986.  He is married and has an adolescent daughter.
