NCUA to Hold Seventh Annual Budget Briefing and Public Forum

September 21, 2007, Alexandria, Va. –The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) will hold its seventh annual Budget Briefing and Public Forum in October. Executive Director Len Skiles will introduce the proposed 2008 budget and the public is invited to attend and provide input.

What:  NCUA’s 2008 Budget Briefing and Public Forum

When:  10 a.m. to noon – Monday, October 22, 2007

Where:  Board Room, NCUA Headquarters, 1775 Duke Street, Alexandria

 “The annual Budget Briefing and Public Forum provides the opportunity for participants to engage with NCUA staff in the formulation of the agency’s budget, within full view of the financial public,” stated Chairman Johnson. "Since NCUA is funded by the credit union system, not tax dollars, I encourage all interested parties to contribute to this meeting by attending and providing their input. The insights gained will assist the agency in serving as an efficient and effective steward of its resources.”

Participants who wish to present oral statements concerning the proposed budget should contact the Secretary of the Board to register. Each registered participant has ten minutes to present their statement. A Budget Briefing and Public Forum – Request to Participate must be received by October 15. Due to time restraints, NCUA reserves the right to select witnesses; however, the agency will make every effort to accommodate all requests and ensure a broad range of views. 

Participants submitting written comments must file a Budget Briefing and Pubic Forum – Comment with the Secretary of the Board by November 1 to be considered.
