Energy Consumption Decisions—Framework for Research

We believe that the options available to energy policy makers are constrained by a strong tradition that views technology and economics as the dominant forces affecting energy consumption. Despite some notable individual contributions, in general there has been no sustained, coherent research effort to address the individual and social context of energy consumption behavior. This is especially true outside the residential sector, e.g. corporate and institutional decision-making. We are developing the theoretical and institutional framework for this long-term research agenda, and invite inquiries from potential co-sponsors and collaborators.
