Prescribed Fire Effects on Biological Control of Leafy Spurge

This research project evaluates the effects of prescribed fire on the biological control of an invasive species, leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula). This project evaluates the effect of prerelease burning on establishment of flea beetle (Aphthona nigriscutis) colonies and the ability of established colonies to survive prescribed fire.

Evaluation of Satellite Telemetry Techniques for Migration and Distribution of Band-Tailed Pigeons

In this study, scientists are marking band-tailed pigeons in southern California with new lightweight solar-powered transmitters to evaluate their potential use in determining winter movements, spring and fall migrations, and breeding distribution. The project uses satellite tracking and also has maps of the bird's migration.
